Though Paris’ bedbug infestation may have left locals itching, the Metro crawling with bugs, and the fashion community touting bites as a Fashion Week souvenir, not everyone is peeved at the invasion — namely, the angry blogger who has been actively plotting the City of Light’s downfall since 2021.

In a newly resurfaced years-old post from a popular French language forum, one peeved user got a little too candid about their scheme to take down the European capital, mailing a metric ton of bedbugs to various locations throughout France.

“A few months ago I undertook a new kind of campaign.” wrote the user, whose identity is still unknown, per a translation of the site. “I, who live in accommodation close to a major bedbug infestation, started taking packs of ten in the building. in question, every day, and to send them by post, hidden in letters filled with hundreds of specimens when I am very motivated and all this totally at random everywhere in France.”

Though at the time, they said their postal attack likely cost the country “more than 1 BILLION EUROS ALONE,” a metric that has probably only gone up since their initial post, their motivation behind this mass destruction was clear — their deep-seated hatred of France.

“My interest is twofold,” they explained. “The first is that I hate, I hate France from the bottom of my guts and I hate the people who live here for the most part, I want this country to collapse as quickly as possible.”

Beyond taking down France, their plan also doubled as a get-rich-quick scheme.

“Obviously knowing that bedbug infestations will increase I can not only ruin France, the state as well as individuals but also make as much money as possible by knowing which boxes to invest in and in which sector of activity exactly,” they said. “The bedbug market is a growing market, very buoyant, I estimate it at more than 1000 billion units this year and double that next year with the return of tourism.”

Though it’s unclear whether they actually cashed out on this elaborate plan, one thing is certain — this post’s resurgence has not done them any favors. On October 3, they headed to the forum yet again with another request, looking for a good lawyer.

“Need a LAW EXPERT,” they wrote, imploring those with recommendations to PM them.

So take it from this (probably) legally embroiled anon — Though we all may hate France, acting on it is never a good idea.
