Kanye West has taken the limelight yet again after an incredibly anti-Semitic rant while featured as a guest on the popular podcast Drink Champs, hosted by hip-hop notables N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN. This rant comes as his latest installment in a series of offensive and anti-Semitic moves/comments over the past few weeks.

On October 10th, Kanye posted an anti-Semitic tweet in which he announced he was going to go “Death Con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE,” claiming he couldn’t be anti-Semitic because “all black people are Jewish.” The tweet was quickly taken down for violating Twitter’s policies.

This rant seems to be a follow-up to the tweet. He uses his appearance on Drink Champs as an opportunity to spout all kinds of questionable nonsense.

Dov Charney, the owner of the apparel company that Kanye partnered with to make the White Lives Matter t-shirts he was knocked for wearing on October 3rd, refused to release the shirts after Kanye posted the anti-Semitic tweet. He asked Kanye to go to the Holocaust museum. In response, Kanye asked him to visit a Planned Parenthood, as it’s his people’s Holocaust.

Kanye goes on to claim that “Jewish people have owned the black voice.” He backs his words with incredibly vague examples like black people wearing Ralph Lauren, a clothing brand that happens to be founded by a Jew, but one of thousands of brands out there that black people wear, signing with a “Jewish basketball team,” whatever that means, or “doing a movie on a Jewish platform like Disney.” Walt Disney was notoriously anti-Semitic.

But he doesn’t stop there. He asserts that Jews in the U.S. came into money as lawyers profiting off of divorce and that they’re trying to hush up ‘business secrets,’ referring to simply investing in real estate. He also posits that all black people are Jewish as descendants of the “12 lost tribes of Israel,” and thus “the blood of Christ.” Ye says the Jewish people have “poked the sleeping bear too long,” referring to himself. He refuses to be silenced on this topic. “You’re going to have to take my life. I don’t care if you Black Mirror me... I don’t care if you have me f****** a goat on camera.”

Kanye fails to differentiate between his qualms with Jewish individuals or companies that happened to be owned by Jewish people and the Jewish people as a whole. It’s unsure whether he’s aware of the fallout of using Jews, a historically persecuted people, as a scapegoat once again. Such broad, sweeping strokes made by a celebrity with millions of fans and massive influence may encourage further anti-Semitism.

In this same interview, Kanye made waves with another contentious take: that George Floyd died from a fentanyl overdose. The autopsy revealed his death most certainly resulted from the knee on his neck. But Kanye disagreed – “if you look, the guy’s knee wasn’t even on his neck like that.” George Floyd’s family is now considering suing Kanye for defamation for the false comments.

According to billboard.com, Drink Champs host N.O.R.E. has apologized profusely for any damage he may have caused by giving Kanye’s controversial opinions a platform and has since removed the podcast episode from their website, drinkchamps.com.
