Makeup tutorials are a mainstay of online content, but most get pretty boring and repetitive after a while: apply foundation, apply eye makeup, apply lashes, do your lips, etc. Boring! One TikToker was thrown a curveball while filming her own makeup tutorial when her video was interrupted by the house next door to hers catching fire, and she opted to share that footage with her followers instead of a comprehensive tutorial. How generous!

@demiadeleke honestly can’t make up my life - my family and i are safe and sound. Thank you God #ohnono #makeupfail #beautytok #amayacolonmakeup #makeuptransformation #makeuptutorial #blackgirlmakeup #xybcza #viralmakeup #trendingmakeup #ukblackgirlmakeup #baseroutine #viralvideo #fyp? #housefire #softglammakeup ? In the video, we can see Demi applying her makeup as usual, before the video cuts to a shot of a building on fire and Demi outside with her makeup still half-applied, followed by a video of the inside of a house, fairly comprehensively burnt down. Fortunately, Demi and her family are all safe, and it sounds like her neighbors are okay too. According to her replies, her neighbors bore the brunt of the damage, since that’s where the fire started before spreading, although both homes were damaged.

The comments were primarily supportive, with many offering to donate to a GoFundMe if needed, to which Demi just responded, “No need, surrounded by the most amazing friends and family,” so that’s fortunate. Others joked about how her makeup was “literally fire,” which, despite her experience, Demi took in good humor.

While your home catching fire while you’re filming a makeup tutorial isn’t ideal, it’s definitely one of the less embarrassing things to be caught in the middle of doing. Getting caught on the toilet or in the shower, for instance. Or mid-coitus with a partner, or worse, someone who’s not your partner while your partner’s at work only for them to rush home after hearing about the fire and catch you cheating on them.
