Though Grand Theft Auto 6 may be coming to consoles everywhere in 2025, one Oregon woman just couldn’t wait for the game’s release, bringing our favorite GTA pastime IRL after stealing her truck back from a local impound lot.

While it remains unclear how, exactly, Nicole O. Penagos-Clare’s vehicle landed under lock and key at a Portland, Oregon tow yard, the lengths she went to be reunited with her truck were ever apparent, depicted in now-viral security camera footage shared to the aptly named r/MildlyBadDrivers.

After making a sneaky entrance, slipping underneath the chain-link fence and into the lot, she quickly realized a stealthy exit wouldn’t be nearly as simple, finding herself head-to-head with what appears to be an impound staffer and his tow truck. Undeterred, she did what any person in her shoes would do — Mowing down the chain link fence, hitting the worker and his ride in the process.

Penagos was initially successful in her breakaway attempt, slipping past the smashed gate, battered car and injured employee, who was later hospitalized following the incident and hitting the road. Yet her questionable choices ultimately caught up with her. She was arrested shortly after the incident on several charges, including first-degree robbery and second-degree assault.

As Redditor u/Lighthouseamour so aptly put it, “Adrenaline is a hell of a drug.”
