I'm an Evangelical, Homophobic, Racist.

I hate Mexicans.  Why?  I don't really know, but I've been told I hate Mexicans because I support a law that actually implements the current federal laws in a responsible and practical manner.

Nevermind that my first crush was a girl from Hermosillo that didn't speak a lick of English, or that my maternal family is an immigrant family, or that over half my family is married to Mexicans, or that I went to prom with a Mexican, or that two of my best friends are Latinos.  All these facts are not what one ponders before judging me.  Instead, the judging comes from a mass hysteria where any rational debate is drowned out by simply dismissing the opponent as racist.

I dismiss their attack as stupid.  However, I do so with merit.  It really is stupid.

I hate Blacks.  Why?  I don't really know, but I've been told I hate blacks because I support small governments.

I had the same criticism of Bush when he is in office, but now I hold a sign while standing next to a black man that sees the world in the same eyes as I do, and I'm racist against blacks because our president is black.  I'm screamed at, yelled at, pointed at, and called names that have no direct correlation to my criticism of a society that believes in big government control and economic policies that sound like something Ayn Rand warned us of.

Of course, one must look past the facts that I hired a black woman to represent me as my secretary for several years, or that some of my best friends were black, or that I belong to the party that ended slavery, or that I have black family members.  Instead, I attended a Tea Party, so any logical argument that I put forth on the merits of economic viability of a nationalized economy is dismissed because I must be a racist.

I dismiss their attack as stupid.  However, I do so with merit.  It really is stupid.

I hate fags.  Why?  I don't really know, but I've been told I am homophobic because I believe marriage is a religious ceremony and not a status.  I believe what goes in behind closed doors is not my business, and I believe the government should not have ANY authority of religious affairs, but because I voted "Yes" on Prop 8 for reasons that are cited in the First Amendment I must be a homophobic, right-wing, evangelical nut.

Nevermind that I would rather the word "marriage" be left out of all laws because I think it's unconstitutional for the state to regulate any religious ceremony.  Don't bother asking if I have any gay friends.  Certainly don't ponder whether I think homosexuals should be allowed to be united in some way other than marriage with equal benefits of all united heterosexual couples.  All that must be glazed over so that my rational objection to state laws being trumped by a few too-powerful activist judges that think they know better than the state constitution and the majority of Californians.  That can't be considered because my argument is irrationally dismissed as homophobic.

I dismiss their attack as stupid.  However, I do so with merit.  It really is stupid.

I am a religious nut.  Why?  I don't really know, but I've been called a religious nut because I believe Christians should have the right to pray during school -or wherever they would like- just as any religion should be allowed to pray, wherever and whenever they would prefer.

Maybe it's because I believe that the role of religion in the founding of our nation should be included in our history books because, like it or not, it happened.  Perhaps it's because I think killing a human at any stage of life is still killing.

Nevermind that I adamantly don't believe prayer in school should be mandatory, or that I believe in a complete separation of church and state.  Disregard that I think Roe v. Wade was a joke of a decision for constitutional reasons, or that I understand there are exceptions when life must end to save another.  Certainly ignore the fact that I am atheist, because calling an atheist a "religious nut" would be... well...

That REALLY IS STUPID.
