I must begin by qualifying what I am about to say. I do not in any way shape or form have the slighest smidgeon of hatred or resentment toward homosexuals at all. To the contrary I was an active member of GSA in highschool and participated in many events for homosexual rights as well as having presented numerous papers on the subject of same sex parenting and children (to the effect that the results are the same as children raised by hetero couples) in college, and I have published severala rticles in my relationship advice column that are positive on gay rights. I am not being arrogant here, I am just establishing what sort of person the following is coming from, because it's important to understand that there is no hatred behind this at all.

That said, I cannot stand the gay pride parade. I have nothing against the idea of gay pride (well it's no more silly then irish pride or polish pride and we have parades for that). This parade should more accurately be called the assanine debauchery parade. There isn't an ounce of pride in what goes on, and I imagine most gays in the city and probably the country wash thier hands of the event. If you've never seen it a bunch of men, dressed in feathers and assles chaps dry humping in the streets and on floats. The women are rather hard to find, but I imagine they do something similiarly steryotypical. Just think of every retarded sterytoype that doesn't really describe the gay community and multiply it by ten and you have the pride parade. I could simply be amused with the idiocy of the spectacle if every major street in a full half of the city wasn't closed down for it. For an entire weekend you cannot go anywhere and no one can get to work sucessfully. the entire city has to get out of the way for this nonsense every year. I wouldn't mind somethin dignified for the sake of advancing the cause of gay rights, but this thing must only be hurting such a cause. No one else gets to dry hump in public, and I would find it equally disgusting if it were heterosexual couples doing such a thing. There is simply nothing progressive about this parade, it's just a cosmetic non solution for real problems. Hold a rally to legalzie gay marriage instead, and get the fuck out of the streets when you do it.
