The worst thing I ever did.

Is that I looked at child pornography. Yes, pictures of children being abused.

But where and how? Maybe you won't believe me, but when I was more naive, I looked for regular porn on Limewire. But why Limewire? Cuz I lived in (guess where?) Saudi Arabia. Now you fucks with your bigoted sense of humor might slam me, but that's where I was born and not where I chose to be. In Saudi Arabia, all pornographic and 'immoral' websites are blocked, so your resources are limited. I was lucky to discover Limewire, initially for music, but then it evolved to pornography.

So one day, I was tapping on all the files to download as much porn as possible and pick out the best. To my surprise, I was shocked to see an image of a child naked in a  compromising situation. I found that there was more than one of this type of image in my folder. I deleted them instantly. Now keep in mind that I was clueless about the law regarding child pornography (again you might not believe me - but this is the truth. Lucky for me, there was no law in Saudi Arabia regarding child porn.)

A few weeks later, I posted a comment in response to what the creepiest thing I ever saw was. I mentioned the incident. Someone responded to my comment saying, 'You're going to jail.' At first, I didn't understand why he would say that. But then, another few weeks later, I came across a news article.

It stated that someone was arrested for possession of child pornography. Right at the end, it mentioned that the reception of child pornography is illegal. Here is where I shit my pants. I realized that I could go to prison for what I did. My fears climaxed when I read about Matthew White, a college student in California who was going to serve 20 years for accidently downloading child porn - fucking just like me! I waited for the Saudi police to show up at my doorstep and take my dad away in handcuffs (I'm a 21 year old college student living with my parents). It's been 5 months and nothing's happened. Well, at least something happened.

For aboyut three years, from '95 to '98, I lived in Northern Ireland. My dad's a doctor, and since he left N. Ireland, he's been keeping himself on the registry for 12 years. Two months ago, I came across a letter saying that he's been removed from the registry. Was it because of me? Could the FBI have informed the association of doctors or whatever about suspicious activity?

But what scares me the most, is the fact that I could - actually, my father could spend time in jail for this in the Western world. Had I been more aware of the internet and the FBI, this wouldn't have happened.
