political rant by a nonpolitical person

while i agree with most of the blogs,  i think the patriot act oversteps boundaries.i do believe we have to finish what wevestarted in iraq because to leave now would leave a power void that would be filled withgod knows what kind of regime. anti americansentiment has grown worldwide and while i do believe our intentions to help the unfortunateand spread democracy are noble, you cant gointo someone elses backyard and tell them howto play on their own swingset and expect them
not to get pissed.
instead of focusing on the hungry and downtrodden of the world, we should focus on our own first. by helping our ownpeople, we become stronger as a nation and the quality of life within our borders improves.with the price of oil so high it has driven upthe cost of goods including food. now lowerclass families are suffering and arent able to provide for their children as the gap betweentheir income and the cost of living is everwidening.
homelessness in this country is now an epidemic. yet contrary to popular belief not all of these people are lazy, drug addicts, or drunks. some suffer from mental illness that leaves them incapable of functioning as a positive member of society. some suffer from physical handicaps that make them unfit for the workplace. unfortunately in this world the farther you fall the harder it is to get back up. ever tried to get a job and had no current address to put on the application? how about going to an interview with dirty clothes and unshowered? how do you make a resume with no access to a computer? now im not saying that these people need our blind charity. i am however saying help them to help themselves. imagine the boost to the economy by the introduction of a new workforce and consumers to buy the goods we produce.
today welfare has become a system with noble intentions that people take advantage of. if your financial plan is to have more kids so you get a bigger check every month than their is a serious problem. instead the system should help these people back into the workplace through job training programs and assisted childcare. if they refuse the programs, cut off the money. you cant help someone who refuses to help themselves.

maybe its time we as a country take back control of our governments spending. i read an article recently that stated that nasa spent 1 billion dollars last year on a program to peak more public interest in nasa. how many roads would that have fixed? how many hungry children could have been  fed? how many school books or scholarship programs that could have funded the education of the next albert einstein or future president will now never be. what a monumental waste of money! did you know the only people capable of giving congress a raise in pay is congress? so much for checks and balances. historically a democracy never lasts to the 300 year mark. why? greed. fear. we as a people have become so afraid of an outside threat that we agree to give up our liberties piece by piece. how easier a way to take a mans freedom but to convince him its for his own safety.
dont even get me started on lobbyists. the purpose of lobbyists is to allow the people direct access to their elected officials to convey what they want in their government. enter big business where corporations exploit the use of lobbyists to influence laws to that which is convenient and profitable to them. sure their are laws in place to keep them from directly paying off lawmakers but wherever their is a rul their is a way around it. make no mistake my friends, corporations have far greater pull in our government than we can hope to. how do we change this? stand up as a nation with one voice. you can drown out the cries of a single man but not of 10000. our government is made to serve and protect our interests not the interests of itself or big business. we are not their workforce or piggybank as they would have us believe. the taxes they take are meant to go to the betterment of our society. the products sold are meant to make our lives easier, not act as the cheese in the mousetrap. the point of my endless bitching is simply this; we will never truly have our freedom until we demand it in no uncertain terms from the government meant to serve us
