The land of the gun.

Greetings, my name is Mr. Officer.

I see that you and your accomplice, sir,

are both carrying guns. Make sure you don't get hurt.

Because tucked inside your pants, or underneath your shirt,

your gun might make me suspicious that you're a murderer.

Although this weapon is your God given right,

you're a little hard hard to see in the middle of the night,

with your face so black, you're hidden from sight.

You might startle me and make me shiver in fright.

Now what do I do, with people like you?

Who stand on the block in your shirt so huge and your Timberland boots.

I don't look at your upbringing and disregard your roots

because my eye is on the threat that your gun might shoot

a drug fiend with no money to pay

or my little girl getting hit by a stray

or a pregnant woman stopping a ricochet.

But unfortunately for me, and the rest of society,

there's nothing I can do if you just show your ID,

and your permit to me.

And my succes that I have, occasionally

lands you behind bars for a year or three

among other perpetrators, of every felony.

Who will teach you the trade of criminality.

But I believe I'm in the right, enforcing the law.

And to do my job I have to agree with it all.

I witness first hand, any hand to hand brawl

is not nearly as deadly as two guns drawn.

But I have no time to look for the cause

because I'm out all day checking 911 calls.

"The neighbour shot my mother

because my brother shot another

but my brother was already 6 feet under."

I've seen it happen in schools

not everybody follows the rules.

In the movies and games it all seems so cool

because the action heroes, use plenty guns too!

And if they shoot someone, there's no consequence

because I don't know his family, or any of his friends.

I just see him drop in a moment so intense.

The passionate fight, it's exciting to the eye.

But I keep my Glock by my side, because so many have died

in the land where guns are easy to come by, for the likes of you and I.
