Where were you?

I woke up with the phone ringing.  Dad.  He said, "America is at war.  Turn on the news.  They just bombed New York City."  I woke up my girlfriend.  For the next several hours, she and I watched in disbelief as the world was changing live in front of our eyes.  We watched as the second plane disappeared behind WTC1.  We watched as the ball of fire, steel, concrete and flesh blew out the other side.  We watched as one tower fell.  We watched the dust settling.  We watched as within the dust clouds the tower disappear again.  A replay?  No.  Nothing there this time.

We turned off the TV, held each other, and cried.
