What ever happened to...

I don't watch the news very often.  It angers me.  Why it angers me is a blog in it's self.

Today I'd like to talk about dead topics.  For example I would like a status report on the BP Oil spill.

Last I checked, such disasters take many years to recover from.  I know that people are still suffering from the Exxon spill.  I know they are still in court fighting law suits.  It's been more than 20 years since that happened.

It seems like BP's spill has somewhat been swept under the rug, to be brought up in some PBS documentary years down the road.   It's strange really.

When it was on the news it was all anyone could talk about.  We all had fears and questions.... but now that it's not getting any air time... nobody seems to give a shit about it anymore.

Are we really a nation that is being told what to care about?   Is it that easy?   Put it on the news, people care... take it off... no one does.   Really?

I don't necessarily blame the news for this.   I blame the people.   Instead of using the news as a starting off point, it's the entire encyclopedia.

I don't expect to hear anything about the Japanese earthquake and tsunami once it's no longer being broadcasted on the news.   This bothers me.
