Memorial Day is coming up so it's about time for my annual trip to visit my late best friend's grave.






 He served in the Navy near the end of the Viet Nam war.  Back then, they didn't call it a war.  They called it a "police action."  That prevented him from getting benefits that he would have otherwise gotten had it been a declared war.  Because of this, the VA hospital didn't help him until it was too late to save his life.

He would likely have supported Veteran's for Peace.

We and a few other of his friends used to play guitar together and sing at bait camps along the Texas coast.  We would go camping at the high school ROTC bivouac area and go ride the rapids at New Braunsels in the Spring and Summer.  Now, the seasons bring the painful memory of his death.

God bless all who serve and may our leaders stop sending our service men and women into harm's way on false pretenses for profit.  May our leaders also take care of those who were sent into harm's way.
