Pretentious - Attempting to impress by affecting greater importance, talent, culture etc, than is actually possessed

Before i start i would like to point out that i am aware of the irony of writing a blog about pretentiousness when the act of writing a blog is slightly pretentious in itself.

Some people write way beyond their capabilities and end up coming across as pretentious. They write the most convoluted bullshit possible. Their attempt to come across as intelligent is apparent and only makes their work difficult to read. Having an over inflated sense of self importance is a very ugly characteristic and one that many artistic types have in common. Poets and artists constantly walk the fine line between originality and pretentiousness. They often attempt to be innovative and only succeed in producing avant garde garbage. In my opinion haiku's are the most pretentious form of poetry. I do not enjoy reading them at all.
