Man arrested after stealing marijuana, police returns property

Humboldt County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man in connection with a burglary in Eureka, this after he was chased by armed neighbors last Thursday.


A 19-year-old woman (who wishes to be nameless) contacted the sheriff's office about 3 p.m. when she noticed a man breaking into her shed. The shed was used to dry medical marijuana, she also kept a laptop in the shed for business proposes. The burglar grabbed both her computer, and a large amount of dried medical cannabis.


The woman then called her father and a neighbor, they then grabbed their firearms and came to the rescue. They chased the robber to his vehicle, which then resulted in a car chase. Sheriff's deputies told the neighbors to cease pursuit of the suspect, and note as much information as possible.


The descriptions and information gathered lead to the arrest of 44-year-old Jack Mathew Roy, he was hiding under his bed when police found him at his home. Roy's arrests was a violation of probation for another past robbery. He is being held at the Humboldt County jail without bail.


As for the women's property, Sheriff's deputies found both the laptop and dried medical marijuana ditched close to the scene, police immediately returned her stolen property.
