You think you are separate from the tree's outside? You are one. your atoms are touching the air and the air is touching the tree. From far there is no separation. The same way when you look to your hand you see one hand, but through a microscope the intricacy of your body is endless... You are made up of many thousands of "living" cells but still feel as "one" being... We are all also part of something so unfathomably large. Only as a unified whole will our purpose be served.
The universe relies on us, and we rely on it. You cannot have one without the other. We are in the middle of something infinitely big and infinitely small. The intersection is us. We living high-conscious beings can grasp this concept and from understanding the implications of quantum and metaphysics our civilization will flourish.
