I must say that the people who built this house (which I'm pretty sure it was the owners that lived in here before us as the house is less than 15 years old, and I think they'd been here for a while) sucked ass at what they did...  Holy shit.  I mean DAMN!

We're working on finishing the main bathroom right now.  My husband removed the toilet only to find that not only had these morons not bothered to move it when they were painting (there is giant spot of white where the toilet tank was while everything else around it was green) but they didn't even have the toilet seated properly in the first place! 

THEN yesterday I was removing the silicon caulk from around the sink so that could be removed to be fully cleaned and so I can refinish it, and we find that these dumbasses didn't have the damn sink and cabinet squared to the wall!  There is a huge, uneven gap between the cabinet and the wall.  Not to mention that it wasn't properly sealed because there's freaking MOLD on the wood of the cabinet right under where the sink was resting.. 

So, the moral of this story is:

IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THE FUCK YOU'RE DOING, DON'T DO IT! 

Luckily, we both know what we're doing, and we're good at it, so we're going to be able to fix most of this shit...  But we know our limitations, unlike these morons, and we're going to hire someone to carpet the place.  Fixing other people's messes is ridiculous!
