Greed, Whats The Point?

How many times have you walked down the street and seen a homeless person?
How would you describe them? Most would say they are dressed in clothes with more holes than a golf course, or that they probably have never shaved a day in their lives.
Now, let us trade shoes. How would they describe you?
Clean shaven, well dressed, and most importantly, VERY, very fortunate.
They were not born homeless. They had families, a house, and a guarantee of a meal everyday. One thing led to another and they ended up at the bottom of society.
Another question. When you see them, do you EVER give them ANYTHING? Probably not eh?
I will admit, I have strolled by many times, and just brushed them off. I regret it everytime. I will bet you that if you gave them even a dollar, they would be greatful, if you brought them out to dinner, they would feel like they were touched by an angel.
This isn't the worst case senario. Look at thrid, fourth, and fifth world countries. They are lucky if they eat once every two weeks, or if they have a place to sleep at night. Many lay in dirt and hope they wake up. $400 dollars for us is equal to food for a YEAR for them.
Seeing as we are teenagers, what would you say your saving your money for? Concert tickets, a date, maybe even a car. All greta things, but at the end of the day, very few of us need every dollar we make at our jobs. We are not even paying rent. The most we pay is our cell phone bill, if that.
So, while your saving up for what ever it is your heart desires, why not think of people who have no money to save up for a meal? Put part of it into a charity, ANY charity. Doesn't have to be anything big, just a little bit donated often, is greatly appreciated. Sometimes we don't realize how lucky we are, until we have our lives stripped away in an instant. Put 20 dollars every pay day towards any organization that strives to help others. Unicef, Red Cross, Heart & Stroke Foundation, the list is endless. If you want an example, go to Toy's R Us, a gift or two, and donate them to Santa's Annonymas.
If you want to do something before Christmas, next time you see a homeless man, when he askes for money or food, treat him to a steak dinner. I promise you will feel on top of the world, cause in a world where everything is going downhill, you can say you gave it a push in the right direction.
