What Drinks Make You a Man or Woman

So I was watching Scrubs about an hour ago, and it made me think about something.  It made me think about why certain drinks are considered "manly" drinks and why others are not.  Any fan of Scrubs would be able to tell what JD's favorite drink is: the appletini.  However, JD is considered one of the less "manly" characters in Scrubs.  For example, where JD would order an appletini at the bar, Dr. Cox would order a shot of whiskey, or glass of scotch.

So it made me wonder what is considered more manly: ordering a hard drink at a bar, or ordering a soft drink that is more or less considered to be "gay."  I figure that a man who is capable of stomaching such hard pure pot still whiskeys such as whiskey's famous around Ireland are deserving of some respect.  I mean after all, that shit has to hurt going down.  But then again, a man who orders a fruity, tastier drink knows exactly what he wants and doesn't care what people think of him for ordering it.

So what are your opinions?
