Why is McCain avoiding the debate?  I know his official version is that he feels like he has to be in Washington to help with the economic crisis, but how long is the debate supposed to last?  An hour and a half?  What's stopping him from getting on his jet at 5 o'clock tomorrow afternoon and flying to Mississippi for a debate, then going back to D.C. that night after the debate.  Candidates sleep on planes all the time.  I suspect the ulterior motive is that he is either afraid he will get his wrinkled ass handed to him, or he is trying to delay the debate so that the VP debate eventually gets postponed and Palin is spared the public humiliation.  Let the hate comments begin!
