Addition is tough

The first grade teacher asked little Susie what two plus three was.

Little Susie held up her hands and counted, "One, two," on her right hand and, "Three, four, five. Five!" she said.

"That's right, Susie, but we shouldn't count on our fingers." said the teacher, She then said, "Billy, what is one plus two?"

Billy held up his hands and counted, "One," then on the other hand, "two, three. Three!"

That's right, but like I told Susie, we shouldn't count on our fingers. Now, Johnny, what is five plus five? And so you won't be tempted, put your hands in your pockets."

Johnny put his hands in his pockets and looked very thoughtful. Finally his face lit up and he yelled, "Eleven!'
