1.
Samus Aran – Metroid; Based off of Sigourney Weaver and Kim Basinger Zero-suit Samus without a doubt looks like Kim Basinger, and the developers wanted it that way. They created Samus based off of Weaver’s ass kicking character in Alien, while modeling her looks after Basinger. -
2.
Sonic the Hedgehog; Based off of Michael Jackson and Bill Clinton It may not be easy to spot the similarities, but the creators of Sonic based his ‘get it done’ attitude off of Bill Clinton. Also, Sonic’s belt boots were modeled after the boots that MJ wore in the ‘Bad’ music video. -
3.
Andrew Ryan – Bioshock; Based off of Howard Hughes While the two are similar in looks, the two were both visionary madmen who descended into insanity after years of success and fortune. -
4.
Dr. Eggman – Sonic The Hedgehog; Based off of Teddy Roosevelt This one is pretty obvious with the giant smile and mustache, round glasses, and of course his husky figure. -
5.
Niko Bellic – Grand Theft Auto IV; Based off of Vladimir Mashkov Rockstar Games originally wanted Russian actor, Vladimir Mashkov, to be the voice of Niko Bellic. After he declined, they kept the similar edgy appearance but hired on a new voice actor. -
6.
Johnny Cage – Mortal Kombat; Based off of Jean Claude Van Damme It’s pretty obvious to see that these two are one in the same. Johnny Cage mimics Van Damme’s cocky and comedic attitude, while also performing some of the same moves that Van Damme has performed in his films. -
7.
Balrog – Street Fighter; Based off of Mike Tyson Balrog was originally named Mike Bison, but quickly underwent a name change when Capcom was nervous about getting sued by Mike Tyson himself. -
8.
Travis Touchdown – No More Heroes; Based on Johnny Knoxville While the resemblance in looks is obvious, the creators of No More Heroes actually based the characters actions off of Knoxville, specifically drawing inspiration from the scene where Knoxville let a gator bite his nipple. -
9.
Bruno Dellinger – Dynamite Cop; Based off of Bruce Willis If you ever played Dynamite Cop, there’s no denying that Bruno Dellinger looks a hell of a lot like Bruce Willis. This is because the game originally was sold as Die Hard Arcade. -
10.
Desmond Miles – Assassin’s Creed; Based off of Francisco Randez Desmond was clearly based off of fashion model Francisco Randez who surprisingly enough is a fan of martial arts and running as well. -
11.
Lara Croft – Tomb Raider; Based off of Neneh Cherry While you may have thought that Lara Croft was a spitting image of Angelina Jolie, that was not the intention. Lara was based off of Swedish rapper, Neneh Cherry, who was both intimidating and sexy, much like the character portrayed in Tomb Raider. -
12.
Shepard – Mass Effect; Based off of Mark Vanderloo First off, the resemblance between the two is uncanny. While you can adjust the appearance of Shepard in the game, the default character model looks identical to Mark Vanderloo, the face of Hugo Boss’ black and white ads. -
13.
Mario – Super Mario; Based off of Mario Segale Believe it or not, the big nosed plumber that we all know was actually based off of a wealthy businessman named Mario Segale. Segale rented a warehouse to Nintendo before their big break, and when they started to run behind on their rent payments, they decided to immortalize Segale by naming their most popular character after him. -
14.
While it’s not confirmed, Marcus Fenix looks a hell of a lot like the Rock. Let us know what you think in the comments down below.
