Dan Abramson wants to reverse the stereotype that only hippies and soccer moms do yoga. Men, especially those who have been through the trauma of war, have a lot to gain from mindful practice. So, he took one of the most macho icons in our culture--G.I. Joe--and taught him some asana positions.

Creating the Yoga Joes took hundreds of man-hours of sketching, melting down action figures, 3D scanning, and 3D printing. -

A recent study found that just seven days of meditation training helped veterans with PTSD experience reduced symptoms up to a year later. Another found that women with PTSD who participated in yoga classes were more likely to maintain progress achieved in treatment programs. -

Just one look at the classic green army men doing yoga inspired nearly 2,000 backers to pledge over 70,000 to the project on Kickstarter. Now these peaceful action figures are poised to inspire children, men, and military veterans to try yoga.
