Mudhouse Mansion was built in the mid-1800s and sold to the Harman family in 1920. The family's descendants still own the house to this day. They keep the house well-protected with fences and security guards because of the attention the house gets from paranormal enthusiasts. -

Nobody comes in. Nobody comes out. -
3.
One of the most famous stories tied to the house involves a slave owner who, despite the outcome of the Civil War, insisted on keeping slaves. He would treat them harshly, beating them and locking them in outhouses far from the main house. This continued until one slave had enough of the harsh treatment. -
4.
The angry slave spent several months digging a tunnel from his outhouse underneath the main house. He emerged one evening from the tunnel and killed the slave owner and his family. Legend has it that the family's ghosts haunt the premises to this day. -
5.
Another family moved into the old house at the turn of the century, but then mysteriously disappeared. The neighbors never saw anyone at the house again except for one figure, standing by the window. -
6.
The figure appeared to be a woman in white. She seemed to never leave her windowsill as if longing to escape. Neighbors eventually grew suspicious and called the police. When officers arrived, they found the entire family dead. The woman in the window was found hanging by the neck from the ceiling. -
7.
Bloody Mary--the woman appearing in your mirror if her name is whispered in the dark--is rumored to have originally inhabited Mudhouse Mansion. The children of Lancaster even call the property "Mary's House." -
8.
Before Bloody Mary was the middle school bathroom-dwelling demon we all know and love, she was a mother. On one horrible night, her husband took their children's lives while she was tied to a chair in her bedroom, forced to watch the slaughter of her family through the reflection in the mirror. She vowed to take revenge before her husband stabbed her in the eyes.
