1.
In Germany you should always say your name and the reason you're calling first. Also you should get right to the point and finish the conversation quickly. Another thing is they use "would you, kindly" a lot and rarely answer after 9 PM. -
2.
In Great Britain during a phone call you should say "please" a whole lot. Also you should always say your name and go to the point. -
3.
Italians think that a call must last longer than 10 minutes and you should tell about your day etc. -
4.
Frenchpeople never answer the phone in public transport or when eating, they also don't speak loud and expect the same from you. BTW they say "kisses" at the end of the call even if you're both men, but don't worry- it's just an expression. -
5.
Japanese think you should NEVER have a phone conversation in public, but they message in public. -
6.
In China when someone says they will call you they will... until you answer; they can call you from 7 AM up to midnight, but not at dinnertime. -
7.
In Turkey there's „sohbet”- the first 10 minutes of conversation is a waste of time, talking about everything non-important, and ONLY AFTER sohbet you can get to business. -
8.
In Egypt people give their phone numbers easily, people talk loud and exaggerate how they like you, they call people "friend" but don't really mean it. -
9.
In comparison Americans get to the point rather quick, but after the important part is finished there comes the "how are you" talk. In U.S.A introductions are short, but goodbyes are longer that in other countries, also foreigners say that Americans often use the phrase "come over sometime" but don't really mean it.
