A photo of a man's touching act of kindness toward a special needs passenger on a crowded bus in Ontario is going viral. The Huffington Post Canada reports that the man on the left in the photo, Godfrey Cuotto, 21, hopped on a bus in October 2015 on his way home from a restaurant. He was stopped by a fellow passenger named Robert, who wanted to shake his hand. Robert is deaf and has cerebral palsy. "He kept holding my hand, said Cuotto. "I thought I was getting pranked at first, but he just needed comfort." Cuotto said he held Robert's hand for nearly his entire half-hour ride on the bus. The man also leaned on him, hugged him, and kissed his hands until the end of his ride. "I just allowed it, like what am I going to do," Cuotto said. "Sometimes you just have to be selfless and put someone else's need above yours." Cuotto said Robert's family has since contacted him, thanking him for his actions. -

In 2013, then 78-year-old Tona Herndon of Bethany, Oklahoma was mugged as she visited her husband's grave. The mugger got away with her purse and $700, but not for long. Police caught up to him, and his mug shot was broadcast on the news. Christian Lunsford, now 17, said the first time he saw the picture, he recognized it "in detail." He had no doubt that it was his dad. His parents had divorced when he was two, and the boy saw little of his father over the years. However, a few weeks prior to seeing the news, his dad gave him $250 for a band trip Christian really wanted to go on. Christian quickly put two and two together. He reached out to the victim and asked to meet her in a church parking lot. They met, and the teen told her he was sorry about what happened and offered to give her the $250. Touched by his gesture, she graciously accepted. Tona said, "It (The money) was mine to do with what I wanted." "I want you to take your band trip," Tona told Christian. In the end, no money changed hands in that church parking lot, but both Tona and Christian got something tremendously valuable from each other. -

Butler County, Ohio Sheriff's Deputy Brian Bussell is being hailed as a hero after he gave a homeless family shelter, clothing, shoes, and food. Bussell went out of his way to help a mother and her two sons after he spotted them sitting a particularly long time in a jail waiting room. When he asked if something was wrong the mother of two, Tierra Gray, told the officer that she had been evicted from her home. Bussell called several shelters to try and find the family housing, but most of the shelters were already overcrowded. He proceeded to put the family up in a hotel for ten days and take them to a nearby Walmart where he bought them essentials—all out of his own pocket. Bussell did not tell anyone at work of his good deed. “This is a true act of kindness,” said Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones. “He did not tell anyone at work what he had done, but the lady took a picture with him and posted it on Facebook. That's how we found out.” -

In October 2015, a complete stranger ran into the burning home of April and Brandon Gourley of Springfield, Tennessee—and came out carrying the family dog. Neither April or Brandon were home at the time of the fire, nor were any of the couple's four children. Unfortunately, the family's pets—including their 1-year-old Bouvier Sampson —were still inside. Neighbours called 911. As they watched the fire consume the home, a total stranger leaped into action. “This guy in a grey Mustang pulls up, says, ‘I do this for a living,' and he runs in. He comes out about two minutes later with this beautiful dog in his arms, and it was incredible to see,” Jimmy Nichols, the man who shot video, said. Within a few days, the family was able to identify (and thank) the dog's rescuer, Tim Tawater, an off-duty Springfield firefighter. -

Layzie Bone from Bone Thugs-n-Harmony may have helped save a life. The rapper, whose real name is Steven Howse, was traveling through Wyoming on his way to a concert when he and his crew noticed a driver acting erratically before spinning out. When they stopped to check on him, he appeared to be disoriented, apparently as a result of diabetes. Howse ended up feeding the 24-year-old man some fruit to help stabilize his blood sugar and posted a picture on his Instagram account after the incident. "I was just scared for him. I was almost in tears and was happy to be there to be of some assistance," the rapper said. -

An 84-year-old grandfather was moved to tears when a stranger paid for his groceries after he left home without his wallet. Retired police sergeant Arthur Bennett of Morecambe, Lancashire realized his mistake when he tried to pay the cashier. A woman nearby quickly remedied the situation by reaching into her purse and settling his bill. The lady, who has since been identified as Katie Louise, handed Bennett a £20 note. She told him, "I'll pay for that—I'm sure you've been kind to other people in your life." Bennett offered to pay her back, but she refused and instead insisted he give it to charity. His daughter, Beverley Collinson, has expressed her gratitude to Katie Louise and wrote about what happened on Facebook in a post that has since been shared more than 12,000 times. -

New mom Rebekka Garvison planned a trip to Fort Rucker, Alabama to surprise her husband, who is in the army. She was nervous about traveling alone with her daughter, Rylee. After boarding the plane, Rebekka noticed the people sitting next to her didn't seem happy about being in such close proximity to a mom with a young baby. She struggled to calm Rylee, who had gotten upset as soon as they boarded the plane. More stressed than ever, she asked airline staff if she could move seats—and ended up next to an amazing woman. "Airplane angel" Nyfesha Miller not only wasn't fazed by the noise, but asked the flustered mom if she could try to soothe the little one. When Rebekka handed Rylee over, she fell right asleep and slept in Miller's lap the whole flight. Since being posted on September 24, 2015, the touching story has been shared more than 93,300 times. Garvison got Miller's contact information so she could send her a token of appreciation for being so kind to Rylee, who will be four months old this week. “We have messaged every day, and we plan on meeting up again someday for sure,” she said. -

In September 2015, Saul Mejia, of Denver, Colorado, had traveled to New York City in the hope of getting a ticket to see Pope Francis during his first trip to the United States. "My dream was to see the pope, and I was just standing there hoping that someone might sell me a ticket or something," Mejia, 24, said. "I threw all my money away just to get here." Mejia's prayers were answered when a stranger gave him her ticket to see the pontiff after seeing him line for several hours. "I have one for me, and then God told me, 'No, no, give it to him.'" the woman said. Mejia told her through tears that a chance to see the pope meant "the world" to him. -

Good Samaritan Natasha Robinson helped a hungry man get a proper meal. Robinson posted a photo of herself and man holding a Wendy's bag on Facebook on September 24, 2015. Underneath the photo, she described the experience leading up to that moment. She wrote that she was leaving school in Northwest Washington D.C. and saw the man eating from a trash can. She asked him if he would like to go to Wendy's to get something to eat. The man took her up on her offer. As as they walked, he said, “Thank you, Lord, for sending someone.” According to the man, the Catholic soup kitchens were closed due to the Pope's visit. After he had ordered, he asked to take a selfie with Robinson. He said that “the world needs to see what a walking blessing looks like." “He said, 'I can't let you leave until I hug you.' As he was hugging me, he was praying. Little do [sic] he know I'm the one who received a blessing,” Robinson wrote. -

On a bitterly cold Virginia night, Felicia Glover reached out to help Kinley Crenshaw, who had no coat, no money and no way to get home. Crenshaw went to a concert with her friend. They soon became separated in the crowd. The teen had decided not to bring a jacket, and her friend had all her valuables (phone, keys, wallet). Not sure what to do, she went to a bus stop and decided to wait. That's when Felicia Glover saw her. She went over to Kinley and took the coat off her back to give it to the shivering teen. She then waited with her until the bus arrived and talked to the bus driver, convincing him to let the girl ride for free. Kinley got her guardian angel's name, but nothing more. She was so grateful for Felicia's help that she wrote about it on Facebook, saying, “I completely forgot to give this woman her coat back and give her the sincere thanks and utmost gratitude she deserves. This woman, without knowing a single thing about me, showed complete generosity, compassion, and humanity. I have to find her, and I won't give up until I do.”
