A professor at Texas A&M University shared a photo of a dead cockroach which had been laying in the Anthropology building's stairwell for two weeks because no one wanted to clear it up. An enterprising person had made the roach a small shrine -
2.
The next day, the professor returned to find some small additions made to the shrine. -
3.
Later that day, there were even more tributes... -
4.
"There is a candle now and a little coffin for the carcass... And for the record, I had nothing to do with the genesis of this memorial," the professor wrote. -
5.
...then the coffin became a funeral pyre. -
6.
The memorial had grown huge by the next week -
7.
The sign above reads: "Rosie the Roach will be with us until Tuesday, December 14th when a celebration of her life will be conducted. Food and drinks will be served in the main office during the afternoon." -
8.
Rosie's popularity grew, and college officials let her lay in state for longer than expected. -
9.
Rosie finally had to be put to rest.
