Another one!

Argentina has spent the past two years engaged in what could generously be called an economic experiment. The experiment seems to be “fix inflation while somehow setting the country on fire.”

Over here in the United States, we’ve seen this country’s repeated attempts to drown itself and thought, “Hey, they could use a liferaft.” And so, we gave them $20 billion — to which they responded by throwing a massive concert headlined by President Javier Milei — because apparently, nothing says “fiscal recovery” like a rock show.

Now, the U.S. is preparing to send yet another $20 billion their way, this time framed as support for the country’s ongoing reform efforts.

People have been debating what exactly to call this now-$40 billion plan — a loan? A gift? A “credit swap”? — but it’s fair to say that many aren’t particularly thrilled with the idea.
