A woman in Florida recently saved her dog from an alligator by punching an alligator in the face. Yes, you read that correctly.

According to local NBC affiliate WESH, a woman named Danie Wright was walking her four-month-old puppy when an alligator came and grabbed it with its jaws.

Not ready to say goodbye to her dog, the woman began wailing on the gator.

“I just punched and punched and punched, and I punched him in the eye enough that he kind of let go, like, he unclamped a little,” Wright explained.

After the alligator let go, it was later caught by relevant authorities. Amazingly, experts do recommend that if you’re personally attacked by an alligator, you should fight back as much as possible — but if they grab your dog, you’re going to have to decide whether saving Fido means putting yourself at risk of a chomp.
