NCAA Announces Players and Staff Can’t Bet on Games Anymore

There’s a revolution going on in the world of sports — by which I mean you can now bet on basically every microscopic detail of every game. Is someone going to get injured? Will the players have Gatorade poured over their heads? If so, what color? And, most importantly, if I hit this parlay and score a massive bonus, will my ex-girlfriend finally take me back?
Seeing this, many college players came to the reasonable conclusion that, “Hey, if they’re not going to pay me to play, I can place some prop bets on my own games and get a decent payout of my own!” The NCAA saw this coming, so players have long been banned from betting on college sports.
However, that left the possibility open that they could allow them to bet on professional games — and earlier this year, they decided that, screw it, NCAA players can bet on professional games. Why not?
Well, “it’s bad” is the primary reason. Following numerous scandals of pros being caught betting on games, the NCAA has backtracked, saying that NCAA players aren’t allowed to bet on any pro games whatsoever. They didn’t give a reason, but like, c’mon — we all know why.
So if you’re an NCAA player, you’re going to have to find some other way to make money. Except playing your sport — they’re still not going to pay you for that.
