You think your neighbors are bad?

Well, you should be thanking your lucky stars that you don’t live next to 72-year-old Samuel Lee Thomas of St. Petersburg, Florida.
Thomas is currently accused of calling 911 a lot. Like, a lot a lot. Like, “16,000 times in the past five years” a lot. Now, before you say “he’s probably just unwell,” no mental-health issues have been cited in the case. Instead, neighbors are alleging that he is using emergency services to harass people.
Here’s how the alleged scheme works: He’ll see his neighbors doing something like having a barbecue, ring up 911, claim that he’s witnessing his neighbors dealing in illegal substances or committing some other crime and then wait for the police to arrive. Often, he’ll do this multiple times in one day, leading to his neighbors being hassled by the police hundreds of times.
Thomas has since been arrested on charges of stalking and filing a false report.
Remember, 911 is an emergency phone number — if you want to waste a lot of time on the phone with someone, just call Spectrum instead!
