Attendees at an anti-fraud convention in Singapore were surprised when, outside of a long line, they were presented with a QR code that promised they could skip the whole rigmarole with a simple scan.
As reported by the Financial Times, the people in attendance, largely experts in the field of fraud management, lined up to scan the code — and were greeted by a message telling them they had been scammed.
Thankfully for them, this was just a test to show how even the best in the business can fall victim to scams — a needed message given how common scams are these days and how much people are losing to them.
Still a bit more understandable than that woman who sent money to a fake astronaut so that he could “buy more oxygen!”
