Transportation Secretary Says It Was ‘Dangerous’ to Fly During the Shutdown
Thanks for telling us *now.*

Remember when the government shut down and all of those flights got delayed? The entire time, we were told not to worry. Sure, there might be fewer flights in the air, and yes, the air traffic controllers might be overworked, and of course, a bunch of them aren’t coming into the office (and the ones who do come in aren’t getting paid) — but flying is still absolutely, 100% safe!
It turns out, no, it wasn’t. Maybe.
Discussing the shutdown with Fox News, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy recounted just how bad things were under the shutdown. At one point, he got real wide-eyed and said bluntly, “This was dangerous.”
He then began to explain why before apparently realizing he had said something he shouldn’t have, amending his statement to say that it was “concerning.”
Host Laura Ingraham tried to spin the moment, saying, “They’re going to get you for that,” and speculating about people writing stories about the aforementioned "dangerous" line (my ears are burning!).
So, was it an accidental slip-up? Or did Duffy genuinely just misspeak? I’m going to choose to not think about it too hard.
