Two Planes Ran Into Each Other at An Airport Again

Another day, another airplane incident.

When people began warning that air travel was going to get worse thanks to deregulation, I don’t think we realized just how much worse it could get — and how much dumber the resultant accidents would be.

Case in point: According to NBC News, two planes at LaGuardia Airport ran into each other on Wednesday while on the tarmac. The collision was described as “low-speed.” C’mon, guys, this is embarrassing!

At the time of writing, we don’t know the specifics of how this happened. That said, we do know *what* happened. One plane was taxiing to depart when it struck another plane that was taxiing to its arrival gate. The wing of the departing plane made contact with the other plane’s fuselage, causing a collision that resulted in a single minor injury.

So, everyone is okay, and the airline says they’re cooperating with local authorities in the investigation. But, dear God, can we at least monitor our planes so dumb stuff like this doesn’t happen? I don’t want to be part of the American Century of Humiliation!
