Well, we knew it was only a matter of time. The same technology that’s filling the internet with slop and clogging up your timeline is now being used to coordinate the dropping of bombs. Yay!

Earlier this week, at the Association of the U.S. Army Conference in Washington, DC, Maj. Gen. William “Hank” Taylor discussed his close working relationship with ChatGPT, which he simply calls “Chat.”

As reported by ArsTechnica, Taylor admitted that he’s been using the technology to help him in “making decisions and solving problems.” Some of those seem harmless enough, such as organizing weekly reports.

Others, though, sound like something a person like him should already have in the back pocket. For example, Taylor said he’s consulting it to teach troops decision-making skills. While you might think that a soldier should already have a good sense of how to make a decision, Taylor insists that A.I. has really helped open a dialogue about improving their “overall readiness.”

Gotta be honest: if you’re looking to ChatGPT to help you learn decision-making skills, you probably shouldn’t be in charge of making any decisions.
