Hail to the crapper!

For over a year, the residents of Maudaha in the Hamirpur district of India would gather around a locked building and offer their prayers. This isn’t too abnormal — there are hundreds of temples in India, many of which share a similar design and color scheme to the building. Even though the door was locked, and no one knew whether there was a deity installed inside, people still saw fit to provide offerings and prayers.
These people were met with a shock when it was discovered that this place, to which they had been praying and making offerings for over a year, was actually a bathroom.
“People believed it to be a temple, and no one bothered to clarify,” explained a resident. “It was only recently that an official told us that it was actually a toilet.”
Now, Gulf News reports that the town is changing the color of the toilet so that it no longer resembles a temple, while an investigation is being done into why there’s been a locked toilet in the center of the city for so long.
Even if it wasn’t a temple, I hope the Gods honor these people’s efforts by ensuring all their future bowel movements are smooth and effortless.
