This data is from 2016, so it doesn't reflect the current numbers, however, it shows an interesting tale of what yellow journalism looks like today. The leading cause of death among U.S citizens year over year is heart disease, followed by cancer. And of the leading causes listed "terrorism" doesn't even show up. While the media coverage of what it deemed threatening to U.S citizens depicts the chart in the exact opposite order. We get it, cancer is boring, at least by the standards of major newsrooms.
