A new remake of 2004's Pokemon FireRed is currently in production. However, it isn't Nintendo working on it.

A fan has been working on the project using Unreal Engine 4 for more than a year. He's just gotten to a point where he feels comfortable showing off the game that many fans wanted but Nintendo hasn't made a move on.

In his first ever demonstration more than 13 minutes of gameplay are shown off with ferocious Pokemon battles between dangerous species like Charmander and Rattata. But really, the highlight of the show is the 3D open world where you can run around admiring PS3 era graphics.

Nintendo has a history of striking down any remake projects that pop up, so chances are the game won't see the light of day. So, start begging Nintendo.
