Twitch has announced the 10 most popular games streamed on its website during the past 12 months. While not a direct indication of which games were played the most during 2017, there is correlation with overall popularity.


Leading the pack was industry leader League of Legends for what feels like the fifth year in a row. Chasing win streaks is as addictive as ever, and it shows.


Although the top game might not be much of a surprise, the addition of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is a huge paradigm shift. Previously, Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive held the top 3 list with confidence. There's a new sheriff in town, and he's backed by another top-performer in the Battle Royale genre that millions of people are addicted to: Fortnite

Surprisingly, IRL made the cut with over 23 million hours. Although dominated by girl streamers who twerk for tips, it has had some awesome moments this year, including a Skyrim-looking guy who can play three flutes at the same time.
