This is a photo from the 1985 Texas City Explosion at BP (formerly AMOCO where I worked). The flames from the propane tower were as high as the smoke cloud in this picture. Being propane, it was like a pillar of fire and there was little smoke. This one was small in comparison, but they don't seem to have any of the photos available online for the one I experienced. I tried to find some of the links, but most of them have been made inactive now, probably due to the lawsuits against BP for more recent explosions, or perhaps because they just don't want people to know the truth.
