We’ve all been seen doing something we weren’t supposed to and tried to play it off. That’s the theme of the latest TikTok meme trend, “just hanging around.” Featuring the famous Beetlejuice, people are sharing their favorite scenarios where someone gets caught red-handed, but tries to act cool and say they were “just hanging around.”

The original video of Beetlejuice, whose real name is Lester Napoleon Green, was taken in a hotel room in 2021. In that clip, he is speaking with his manager Robert Rooney about his career, and Rooney asks him what he’s been doing. I’m sure you can guess the answer. Now, that video is being superimposed over photos of very different situations.
