“No one’s ever tipped a cow.” That’s the assertion comedian Bert Kreischer made on his 2bears1cavepodcast with fellow stand-up artist Tom Segura.

Segura claimed he didn’t believe him, saying he’d seen it happen before while growing up in Wisconsin. But when Kreischer pressed him on it, he backed down.

“Pull up a video of cow tipping,” Kreischer said. “I bet you can’t find one.”

The clip has racked up millions of views across TikTok and other platforms, with people shocked that the urban legend of cow tipping might be complete cowshit. So we decided to investigate. Is cow tipping real, or do we just love the movie Cars?

Well according to Wikipedia, “The practice of cow tipping is generally considered an urban legend and stories of such feats viewed as tall tales.” The page goes on to point out that cows are so heavy, even a willing one would be virtually impossible to knock over. And unlike horses, cows do not sleep standing up.

But plenty of commenters on the podcast’s video sided with Segura.

“It’s 100% real!” Tribeof10 commented. “Done it twice.”

“So this is actually a countermeasure that has been put in place to prevent cow tipping,” David the dude said. “I have had family,” he continued, “Very upset about cows with broken ribs because people tipped them over.”

But to Kreischer’s point, despite significant effort, I have yet to find a legitimate video of a cow being tipped.

"Because when we were actually tipping cows there were no cell phones to videotape that ish in the middle of the night,” Jen commented. Multiple accounts claiming to be real dairy farmers disagreed.

In conclusion, cow tipping seems to share quite a few characteristics with alien sightings: Everyone who’s done it was alone, and video quality instantly regresses to the late 90s.

Only one cow-tipping viewer seemed trustworthy; “I always give my cow 20%,” he said.
