In recently released documents, Brazilian fighter jets claim to have witnessed and chased numerous mysterious flashing UFOs flying up to 15,000mph. In an event called 'Night of the UFOs', hundreds of troops witnessed flashing lights across the sky back in 1986.

Soldiers claimed that many of the objects were not appearing on their radar. Traffic controller Sergeant Sergio Mota da Silva, said that he was one of the first to witness the lights near the city of Sao Paulo.

He said, "It doesn't go up or down, it doesn't go to the left or to the right, it's just standing there."

After seeing the lights the Sergeant got on the phone with air traffic control at Sao Paulo's international airport to check if there were any planes due to fly overhead, which there were none.

The Sergeant said the lights would dim when they moved toward the traffic control towers.

Later in the evening, cadets at a nearby air force academy claim to have seen the same flashing lights.

The event caused the Air Force to investigate, sending multiple jets into the sky to follow the lights. However, when they attempted to fly near the crafts, the soldiers claimed they did not act in a normal way.

Mota Da Silva said, "Sometimes, the pilots had visual contact with the targets, but the radars did not register anything. Other times, the radars even picked up the presence of objects, but the pilots could not see them."

Air Force minister Brigadier Octávio Júlio Moreira Lima said there was 'no explanation' for what was witnessed that night.

The Brazilian Senate is set to have a hearing discussing UFO activity later this week and the 'Night of the UFOs' event will likely be a point of discussion.
