There’s a lot of stress that comes with getting married. Planning the wedding, picking the venue, pretending you care about what color the napkins are — all of these are essential aspects of a wedding, for some reason, and as someone who is getting married, you are forced to deal with them.

One part of the wedding you’d hope would be kind of a given, however, is the officiant. You choose some person to say some Bible stuff, then they tell you to say your vows and kiss your partner. Easy enough, right?

Wrong. As it turns out, if you choose the wrong person, they may use that role to ramble about some things that you really don’t agree with. Such was the case in this video:

According to the text overlaying the video, the pastor officiating the wedding used it as an opportunity to express their view that marriage can only be between a man and a woman (jokes on him — how can he explain that one woman who married a carnival ride?).

Needless to say, the bride wasn’t having it. Soon after, she took the mic to tell the pastor and audience that 1) marriage can just be between two consenting adults, and 2) ShutTheFuckUpAndDon’tRuinMyWedding (this message is a little more subtle).

Of course, many replies rightfully pointed out that they hired the officiant and probably should have done a bit more digging into his background before letting him go off-script. While this makes sense, we gotta cut the couple some slack — as other people in replies noted, sometimes officiants just do this.

Hats off to her for saying something, though — most people would have simply given the audience the “yikes” face and just carried on.
