On today’s episode of “Twitter is Broken,” verified Twitter bots are helping you shop for some pretty fucked up merch.

Twitter is in its messy era. And I mean that literally. When Elon first took over he promised to "fix the bot problem" but the only thing he's done is give them verification which has, in turn, prioritized them below viral tweets, oftentimes in promotion of some pretty questionable products.

Twitter user @LeefUnderscore posted a screenshot of a Reddit post of an old man wearing a “Eat, Sleep, Rape, Repeat” shirt at the airport. And the top replies weren't people calling it disgusting but were verified bots spammed links to where you could buy the shirt online.

Bots have long been an issue for Twitter but Elon'ss reign has only made the problem worse. Now that all of them have paid for the blue checks, their responses are promoted.

“It’s a good thing $8 blue checks solved this problem,” tweeted one user.

“How could they be bots if they have a blue verified check? They should create a system to help differentiate this,” says another user. Good idea.

Is anyone gonna fix this? Who knows? We’ll just have to get used to every reply section looking like a tacky souvenir shop hucking the worst products imaginable.
