It’s no secret that while some artists are in it for the love of their craft, others are in it primarily for the money. Jennifer Lopez has never been known for her artistry, but rather catchy songs, many of which she doesn’t even sing herself, instead letting performers like Ashanti do the work while taking the credit. Despite this history, a recent move has shocked fans with how blatantly greedy it is.

Recently announcing VIP packages for her upcoming This Is Me… Now tour, JLo revealed that fans will get the opportunity to meet her for the low, low price of $4,000. Such a bargain, right? And what can fans expect for that amount of cash, besides meeting the woman herself? Let’s count them down: A dedicated barstool in the VIP section or a seat in the front row, bar service, three drink tokens, a merch pack, a rideshare voucher, early entry to the venue and access to the VIP lounge, where they can enjoy hors d’oeuvres, a candy bar and an actual bar.

Honestly, the perks sound decent, until you remember they’re costing you $4,000 and not $1,000 at most.

People are confused by this move to say the least, particularly since it’s 2024, and JLo is now better known for getting back together with Ben Affleck rather than her live-music extravaganzas. Even people who love her and might have been willing to spend $2,000 have posted about being unable to justify dropping $4,000 on the experience.

For context, JLo has had two songs chart in the U.S. since 2017, with the most recent being 2020’s “Pa’ Ti” with Maluma, so she’s not exactly experiencing the same career high as say, Taylor Swift, who, it should be noted, has never charged fans for meet and greets, which were commonplace on her tours prior to 2023’s Eras Tour.

It remains to be seen whether or not many people take JLo up on this once-in-a-lifetime offer; ample tickets are still available for all of her shows ahead of the tour kicking off in Orlando in late June, suggesting there isn’t significant demand for even the cheap seats, let alone $4,000 packages.
