From viral fame to prison bars.

Keir Johnston, whose mother-in-law famously left the entire internet questioning their ability to distinguish between black and blue and white and gold while picking out a dress — or in internet parlance, The Dress — to wear to his 2015 nuptials, has been accused of attempting to murder his wife, The Guardian reported.

On Monday, July 10th, Johnston headed to Scotland’s High Court amid allegations that he domestically abused his wife Grace Johnston throughout the course of roughly 11 years, a cycle that ultimately culminated in him pulling a knife on her and attempting to strangle her in March 2022.

Though Johnston, whose trial is scheduled for 2024, has denied all of the allegations, social media was shocked that attempted homicide served as his second claim to viral fame.

“ex-fucking-scuse me wrote @BexMix_41 in response to the allegations.

“Well this took a turn,” added @Budini.

Moral of the story? You never really know the man behind the meme.
