A Mexican man discovered that getting too into the Halloween spirit is definitely not Child’s Play after both he and his Chucky doll were arrested in Monclova, Coahuila.

On September 11, a man known only as Carlos “N” decided to kick off spooky season with one heck of a bang, terrorizing passersby in a popular area of the northern Mexican city alongside a doll of the horror icon.

“He put the doll in their faces and was scaring people, it is an offense, (and) for this reason he was arrested,” former police director Juan Raúl Alcocer recalled of the incident, per the New York Post.

Carlos N, who appeared to be under the influence of some substance, and his Chucky doll were arrested and taken to the police station, where they were both placed in handcuffs and required to snap respective mugshots, a decision that garnered widespread backlash.

“He must take his job and the regulations seriously, not play those games,” Alcocer said of the official who opted to arrest the inanimate scary movie legend.

So take it from this cuffed Chucky — though scaring pedestrians may be a punishable crime, multiple murders most definitely are not.
