After weeks of silently standing in the eye of the internet’s latest celebrity beef, it seems Justin Bieber has finally spoken … or at least let his lighter do the talking.

Over the weekend, the Biebs threw himself a luxe mushroom-themed 29th birthday party, where some fans argued his souvenirs and his body language hinted at the drama between his wife, Hailey Bieber and his ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez.

Bieber passed out silver lighters emblazoned with the phrase “I’m so grateful that I didn’t end up with what I thought I wanted,” a sentiment several fans took as a dig at Selena, whom he dated on and off for eight years, and his body language seemingly sent a different message. As several extremely bored eagle-eyed fans pointed out, the singer appeared all smiles in nearly every photo he posted from the star-studded birthday bash … except those with Hailey, a series of events that sparked the internet’s latest burning inquiries: Does Justin hate his ex *and*  his wife?

Before we can answer this, we need to take a giant step back. I know what you may be thinking. “Carly, who are these people?” “why are they important?” So here’s a quick explainer for those of you who either live under a rock.

Senela and Justin were an item in an on-and-off relationship between 2010 and 2018, a teenie bopper power-couple relationship that brought us these incredible paparazzi photos that may or may not be covering up a meth sale and the absolute fire Nicki Minaj verse of “Buns out, weiner/But I gotta keep an eye out for Selener.”

Though Justin and Hailey briefly dated in 2016 while he and Selena were on a break, the pair rekindled their romance in June 2018 though Selena and Justin called it quits one month earlier. Justin proposed to Hailey that July, the pair typing the knot two months later in what may be the rebound of the century.

While Hailey has avowed there was no overlap — "I can say, period, point blank, I was never with him when he was in a relationship with anybody, that's the end of it," she said while appearing on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast (a.k.a. millennial 60 Minutes) — the plausible deniability ignited long-simmering beef between her and Selena.

Though Selena and Hailey briefly seemed to reconcile, posing for a (since-deleted) snap last October, their feud reignited last month, thanks to “Rise and Shine” artist/Kris Jenner’s favorite child, Kylie Jenner.

On February 21, Gomez took to TikTok with a video depicting her ultra-snatched brows alongside the caption “I accidentally laminated my brows too much.”

Hours later, Kylie, a longtime pal of Hailey, shared a selfie with the caption “this was an accident ?????” penned atop her — you guessed it — eyebrows, before posting a screenshot of her and the Rhode Skin entrepreneur flaunting their arches on FacetTime.

Despite Kylie’s denial of any shade (sure, Kylie. Sure), the snaps proceeded to launch a whole lot of drama, broaching Hailey’s alleged mean-girl past and history of following the Biebs early in his career.

While it’s unclear how, exactly, Justin feels about this drama or either party, one thing is for sure — he’s definitely not worth fighting over.
