Comedian Mark Normand recently had to end his set early after his performance was apparently interrupted by a police chase.

In a video of the event, a man can be seen running across the stage of the New York Comedy Club, where Normand had been performing as part of his Good Eggs Comedy Show. Never one to miss a potential joke, Normand calls him a “migrant” before quickly realizing that something more serious may be happening.

Security escorts the man and another woman off the stage, which initially appears to be the end of the event. “Anything can happen at a comedy show,” Normand states. “That was some kind of weird, swinger sex party thing.”

Soon after, however, it becomes clear that the situation is not over. Normand sees someone get tased, and security eventually returns to take Normand himself off the stage. Producers then come on-stage and clear out the comedy club.

No one is quite sure what happened here. Normand posted on his story that his team was “still trying to put together the details,” and the New York Comedy Club doesn’t appear to have referenced the event on their social media. I reached out to them and they had no comment; that said, I’ve also emailed the NYPD to see if they have any further info. For the time being, it looks like this one is going to remain a mystery.

But if you’re a fan of Normand, he’s still in town — catch him at the Beacon Theatre, and if you get the chance, make sure to ask him what the hell happened.
