Spoiler alert: It’s the police!

In case you haven’t been following the news, golfer Scottie Scheffler was arrested last week outside of the PGA Championship. According to the police, Scheffler was being given directions on where to drive when he “refused to comply and accelerated forward, dragging Detective (Bryan) Gillis to the ground,” writes CNN.

“The detective suffered pain, swelling and abrasions to his left wrist and knee and was taken to the hospital for further treatment, the report states. His uniform pants, valued at about $80, ‘were damaged beyond repair,’ the report adds,” reads the CNN piece.

There’s just one problem: None of that shit actually happened.

While the arresting officer had *forgotten* to turn on his body cam (Don’t you hate it when that happens?), footage from another officer was finally released to the public.

What we see aligns nothing at all with the officer’s story. While Scheffler is seen pulling forward, the officer isn’t pulled away by his car. Rather, he runs up to him and begins screaming at him, immediately putting him in cuffs after he exits the car.

Maybe he ruined his pants after shitting himself from the adrenaline, who knows.

The story isn’t super unexpected. Cops lie all the time — they even lie on the stand so much that they have a word for it: “testilying.” What *is* unexpected is the backstory of the arresting officer, a man named Detective Bryan Gillis.

Gillis likes to have a little fun. For example, back in 2013, he was briefly suspended for driving his police cruiser with an intoxicated passenger and doing donuts in a parking lot.

He’s also got a list of other conduct problems, such as causing multiple accidents over the course of years and pursuing a vehicle “that did not commit a violent felony or wanted on a warrant,” per Yahoo! News. Take a look for yourself!

Well, at least we know that there’s still a job out there where you can lie, fuck up a million times and still get promoted. That shit wouldn’t fly at Arby’s.
